I started Judo at the age of nine and I was immediately hooked, I enjoyed both the physical and technical side of the sport, but looking back I think it was the rough and tumble of wrestling about that I enjoyed the most.
I won my first medal after a couple of months and this really motivated me, I wanted to be a Judo champion.
I was fortunate enough to progress well through the junior ranks, winning five national titles this gave me a lot of self-confidence and focused me on my goals.
Through judo I have managed to travel around the world which has been a great experience and have built friendships in the sport which remain to this day.
I was lucky enough to enjoy a really successful senior career
In which I managed to achieve most of the goals I had set out to do as a nine year old kid. This has left me with a sense of self satisfaction and balance to my life.
Now as a coach I try to provide the same lessons and attributes that I have benefited from to my students. I still enjoy the technical and physical side of the sport and I have a very innovative style of coaching and try to make all my sessions fun.
Judo should be done with a good work ethic but always with a smile. I believe it truly is a sport for life - welcome to happidojo .
